World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.
If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much it will improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to improve the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can waste many resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). The item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it has a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained, such as the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses listed above.
